Hey every body! Check this recipe out regarding rotisserie chicken, what I love is the fact that Laura gets into writing about the gravy. I’ve seen a ton of articles and not a lot of people write about turning the juice into gravy!!!! Now my question is for all the Crock Pot people out there is what do you make with this dish??? Any suggestions??? The answer there’s a ton!!! Everything from left overs, to doubling, even tripling the recipe. And not to mention the variety of sandwiches, and even adding some recipes to the tailgate parties. Trust me when I say chicken is an all around favorite! There’s just so much you can do with a chicken!!!
But on a serious note, talk about hitting the jack pot. I saw this article that’s a must read called:Freezer Cooking: Cooking Meat in Bulk. What a great article on cooking in bulk, by Coupon Geek, does an awesome job in getting into the particulars of bulk cooking. What I mean by the particulars, is that Coupon Geek gets into actually timing the whole process from beginning to end, just take a look at the article.
Also when you have a minute also check out the link titled Freezer Cooking. Another well written article on the particulars of freezer cooking which has a ton of resources! Here’s also another great resource that I’ve told to you guys in the past called: Freezer Cooking Made Simple it’s definitely worth every penny! Enjoy!!!
A question that a lot of people ask is, if you can cook frozen meat in a crock pot the answer is yes, but don’t do it. The health factor out weights the risk! Fry Cook at Food.com community forum, asked the question. But Pinky’s comment, was very sound advice. Also the other problem, I ran into was that the coils, had trouble firing up. I would have to take the insert out then, when it was hot enough, then put the insert back in. I also tried to leave the insert in, and because the meat was so cold, it had trouble getting hot!
Also take a look at CP Cooking Temps go to the more tips section, I definitely think it will help, but the bottom line is just thaw it out .
It’s hump day, Remember just 2 more days!! hang in there! I’m putting this post up because Pamela, wrote this very sound article on Freezing Food. After I read it I got some gold nuggets out of it. Especially how she went into the depth of the containers you use when in the refrigerator because of food expansion & what foods freeze well, and what foods don’t, and what foods separate.
And what to look for in freezer burn etc… So whatever you do take a look at it, I would even go as far as to say print it out. What I like to do is laminate the sheets I print out, if food spills on it, it’s easy to wipe off.
I just remembered! theirs a book called Freezing Food Made Simple, that i have on my front page, that takes things even further. Check it out when you have a minute. Tell a friend as well.
I can’t say enough about freezer cooking/ freezing food tips, what I end up doing is doubling, or even tripling the the recipes, get ,my containers, and I have food for a few weeks out. depending on the size of your family. Here’s are links on what Veg’s & what fruit that do well with freezer method. Also there’s a series of books on the freezing method by the Hillbilly Housewife, it’s called Freezer Cooking Made Simple. The reason I mention it is because you save time & money, with freezing food.
This is a series of crock pot recipes, that will save you money & time. Especially when you throw the food freezing method into it. You end up saving in the back end. That why I ways always an advocate for freezer cooking/freezer meals, it’s an awesome way to stretch your dollar.
What I like to do is work with a lot of containers, I mostly go to the dollar stores to pick them up. I usually get between 4 & 6 containers for a dollar. Also what I like to pick up are the larger ones their great for when you do big batches of rice.
