Crock Pot- Kalua Pork Torta & Pineapple Salsa

What a mouth watering recipe that Sandy, put up bravo on it!!! It’s definitely one of those recipes that you can make a couple a times a month:Kalua Pork Torta & Pineapple Salsa . But what I love the most is that Sandy went into freezing any left overs. Like I’ve said in the past, if you don’t want to deal with cooking. Get into freezing your left overs!!! And here’s one that I think will help you out: Freezer Cooking Made Simple.

Here’s another way to approach it, theirs 7 days in a week & 24 hours in a day. With that said you can, put a recipe to cook, before you go to bed. And before going to bed, prep another recipe, and put that one in before you go to work!

Do this for an entire week and if you run out of containers. Just go to your local 99cent store! I get a 5 count for a $1.00!!! After each meal is done just freeze, and when the kids & husband, or wife want to eat. Tell them defrost, and nuke!!! It’s as easy as that.

I can’t say enough about freezer cooking/ freezing food tips, what I end up doing is doubling, or even tripling the the recipes, get ,my containers, and I have food for a few weeks out. depending on the size of your family. Here’s are links on what Veg’s & what fruit that do well with freezer method. Also there’s a series of books on the freezing method by the Hillbilly Housewife, it’s called Freezer Cooking Made Simple. The reason I mention it is because you save time & money, with freezing food.

Here’s one recipe that you can do , and the left overs freeze well Freezer Friendly Beef Rice and Mushroom Soup.

7 tricks for better slow-cooking in your crock pot

Hi Everybody!!!!
I found this article that By Hilary Meyer, Associate Food Editor, Eating Well Magazine. And she went through what she calls the 7 tricks but should be renamed the 7 laws of crock pot cooking. But all in all it is handy for anyone who’s just starting out with this journey.

What I liked the most was Tip #5,6,7. Tip #5 went into how to get more flavor going if you have the time. But this one tip itself is only something from an experienced cook, and that was to de-glaze the pan after the browning of the meat, and veg’s. Bravo my hat goes off to you.

This one tip alone will take the flavor of your dish to another level.  Tip#6, she went into the temperature zones which no one really talks about it at all. Whatever you do educate yourself on temps, here’s a great article I put together, CP Cooking Temps check it out it goes into what meats should be cooked at what temp.

Also there’s Tip#7, which made perfect sense, and to help you choose here’s a video, from Crock Pot King, called Best Rated Crock Pots, take  a minute to review it. Because I think it will definite help you make a decision on which one to buy.

Chicken and Dumplings by Crock Pot Girls

What a great recipe, what I like what the girls did was there mentioned time management. In the sense that if you need to do something with the family. You can add an ingredient before you leave.

And when you come back, it’s ready. What I don’t here a lot of people talk about in other videos is that they don’t freeze their left overs. Remember crock pot cooking is about creating time for yourself. So with that said here’s something that’ll take your cooking (which is what we want to avoid, the less we can do it the better)!!! Is Freezer Cooking Made Simple which goes into casserole recipes/ Chicken/ soups & stews/ ground Beef & Turkey as well & Frugal Mom’s Once a Month Cooking, which is over 70 recipes. Talk about a time saver.

Apple Pie Soup

Hey guys,

Sorry I’ve been away!!!! A lot going on my end. A lot of irons in the fire. But either way the seasons are coming, and I thought I would just start off with this recipe. All keep in mind the freezer factor, because as we all know that if we can get one less dish out of the way, we’ll do it. With that said, one of my last posts I mentioned that crock pot cooking isn’t just for the fall & winter months. You’d be surprised what the advantages are for the summer months especially if you don’t want a hot kitchen.

And the electricity you end up saving is quite a lot. Also note if you go to your local department of water & power website, you can do the calculation on how much you can save, by using a crock pot, I think it’s under the category of small appliance.
